why do people say “don’t be a pussy” when talking about weakness more like “don’t be a man’s ego” because you know there isn’t nothing more fragile than that

BUT, sadly it is not really the root for this expression, I’m afraid. The word pussy does actually refer to women and girls and has been since the 16th century. And the way it is used today, as in saying someone is weak or fearful, does actually go back to that use of the word and not pusillus.
Sorry to disappoint, but I love me my etymology and I hate sciolism.
